Does West Ham losing actually ruin your week?
Shearer said today in one of his arsehole interviews on BBS "Newcastle fans love their football club through thick and thin. It's their life. It's what they work all week for. It depends on the result on Saturday if they have a good week or a bad week..."

I've supported West Ham my whole life, went with my dad and brother, now my kids and niece / nephew come... three generations...

...But I can't say it ruins my entire week if we lose. Maybe when we lost the Cup Final to Liverpool or get relegated but my week's mood does not depend on West Ham. Am I unusual? Or do Geordies just have nothing else in their lives?

It used to.

I'd kill for an honourable defeat these days.

No, unless it is a particularly big or important match.

Might be in a mood for a couple of hours, but I've learned not to let it affect other parts of my life on the whole. I used to be a right moody git for the rest of the weekend at least sometimes.

No because I'm not a sad northern cunt

I think having less other things in your life makes it affect your moods a lot more as well. In the case of the Geordies, many of them probably don't have too many other positives in their lives so they bank more on the football club for happiness.

Fucking hell, you're making it sound like it's a grim shithole up there. Newcastle's a great place and the birds roll over than us at Anfield.

Depends on the game, hang over etc etc

The hardest game to get over this season was those cunts Spurs nicking a point in the dying seconds.

I was in bits for days

Normally I'm ok by Tuesday

I do remember it taking me a few weeks to get over losing to Arsenal on Pens in the QF though. I was 15 or 16.

But now I couldn't care much, unless it's relegation.

Usually ruins the rest of the day, if its a bad one and especially if its a lean journey home.

Thats it though. Weeks a bit strong.

Maybe, but I'd wager there's a fair few who work shit, hard jobs with long hours for shit pay who don't have masses of great stuff going on.

Of course that's not the case for everyone who lives in the North. There's obviously a lot of happy, affluent people living in Newcastle as well.

Now, soccer saturday gets turned off straightaway and it's forgotten about within seconds.

Yeah, it's so life and death for Geordies that half the cunts don't show up when they get relegated. Probably too consumed by grief to go.

Whilst the very centre of Newcastle is pretty good these days, the rest of the city and surrounding area is mostly a fucking shithole.

The Mags are so consumed with the passion of supporting their shit team, they even wear zebra shirts to weddings and funerals

Dopey cunts

This season, up until Christmas, a loss pissed me off.

During and since the festive period, where our esteemed & revered manager imposed his managerial style & tactics on the side I get more upset that my declared 6% bottle of Chang beer turns out to be a piddly 3% rather than a tramp juice 9%.

Sam has a classic educational standard text book in him: "How to fuck things up and still come out smelling of roses." Will get excellent reviews in the press. Nailed on.

i used to be well annoyed when both west ham and england lost anything

now i give about as much of a fuck as most of the players. i'm so glad i was brought up when footballers used to mix with the common man. and the english team had lots of players who actually wanted to turn out for us. singing the anthem etc.

modern day football really is shit.

It used to. Now it would if we were in a relegation battle or had something big to play for. 30 years ago I was a teenager and results dictated my moods.

Re: Does West Ham losing actually ruin your week?
Didn't sing a single song when we lost there 5-0 in the relegation season, so they can't care that much.

And even when I went to every game home and away it never ruined my week. Not as if you don't get used to losing as we do it so often.
